Overview
This border post has a fairly volume of traffic. This crossing is basically one sided cargo movement from Zambia into DRC. Mostly moved items are construction material from Zambia into DRC.The road to the border is heavily dilapidated, however the contractor is already on site doing repair to Ndola. Also controls movement restricted and prohibited goods.
Waiting time is dependent upon documentation completeness.

Daily Capacity
This border post has a small volume of traffic. No parking space for trucks except along the roadside. Approximately 3-5 trucks per day cross both ways with most in transit from Zambia to DRC Border Post. Maximum capacity is about 5 trucks per day. About a 1-2 hour wait when all documentation is correct. Road access very bad asphalt from Ndola.
Customs Clearance
Minimum delays occur because of self-assessment pre-clearing routine on documentation done in advance. Documentation requirements for food (cereals):
- Waybill
- Export permit (dependent on commodity)
- Certificate of Origin (COMESA/SADC)
- Fumigation certificate
- Export schedule (in case of Maize)
- Invoice
- Phytosanitary certificate
Electronic pre-clearance possible and recommended through forwarding agent. Bond is held by the agent for fees. ZRA is the Regulatory Authority. Inspection is required for import and export by Ministry of Agriculture and ZRA. Fee of USD 100 per foreign registered truck and US$2.20 equivalent for Zambian trucks. All trucks are subject to inspection upon entering or leaving the country.

Other Relevant Information
Cargo transits DRC with correct documentation fairly smoothly. Movement of people and private vehicles from DRC to Zambia do not have the same experience. Food is inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture.
