Due to the history of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the export economy needing such facilities, the country has inherited a massive storage capacity infrastructure. This capacity continued to expand a bit after independence but has slowly degraded due to lack of investment and maintenance. Some economic operators did try to fix and improve this potential but it is mainly located in large cities such as Kinshasa and Lubumbashi. Other cities, because of their key location in terms of domestic logistics (ie. Kisangani), still have important storage capacities but are poorly maintained.

Commercial Storage
A wide range of commercial storage can be found in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Matadi and Goma with the provision of handling material. Storage spaces are also available in the rest of the country but lack suitable structures. Most of the commercial warehouses are factory premises that were abandoned when the companies went bankrupt. Others are owned by various logistics service providers.

Public Sector Storage
Basically, all storage facilities belonging to the SNCC (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer du Congo) and SCTP (Société Commerciale des Transports et Ports) are, in principle, eligible for renting. These companies are partly owned by the State. Often, these warehouses are rented by big local companies, such as the brewing company BRALIMA.
As they are located in train stations, river and lake ports, they are disseminated almost all over the country (except North East).
