Overview
Nepalgunj is the 16th largest border crossing point, with 4.2% share of total import value (ref: Dept of Customs, 2022/23). The main goods imported through this border crossing point are petroleum products such as diesel, petrol, LP Gas, automobiles and automobile parts, sugar, rice, coal, cloths, aluminium scrap items, copper scrap, and processed plastic for industrial use. The main goods exported are herbal medicines and buffalo meat. Kolkata is the nearest India seaport for this entry point. The entry point on the Indian side is Rupadiya, Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh.
An ICP (Integrated Check Point) is under construction at Nepalgunj that will house customs office, bank, animal quarantine, plant quarantine, food technology and quality control necessary for customs clearance. It was scheduled to be completed by June 2023 but is delayed due to covid-19 and other factors.

Customs Clearance
The establishment is more of a holding centre for transportations meaning goods are rarely unloaded and repackaged therefore yards are used to hold trucks during the process of clearance.
