Overview
Birgunj Customs is located in Birgunj Municipality, ward no 19, Inarwa. After the promulgation of the Customs Act in 2019 BS, the customs have been functioning as a modern custom having two functional branches, main office at Birgunj as Birgunj Office and another office in Birgunj ICP Customs Office at Alau. The customs office mainly imports vehicles and their spare parts, petroleum products, coal, iron rods, pipes, cement clinker, readymade garments, soft drink concentrates, industrial machinery and raw materials, feed supplements, sports shoes. Good including juice jam, khudo, aluminum rods, jamboth cloth, CR seat, handbag, iron sheet, hat and copper goods are being exported.
There are 11 small customs offices under this customs office including Matiarwa, Sirsia, Piparpati, Simraungadh, Bhiswa Amritdhara (Thori), Avhi, Kacharwa, Alou, Gadhparsauni, and Janaki Tola.
In terms of revenue, the Birgunj Customs Office has 1st position in collecting country's total customs revenue.
